REVIEW: BenQ InstaShow

How often have you tried to connect a device to your TV/monitor at work or home but didn’t have the right length cable or have to worry about getting onto a network and/or downloading software?

I recent tried an AMAZING solution to both the problems I listed above. BenQ, a company known for making great projectors & monitors/displays have come out with the InstaShow.

Here are some features that make the InstaShow so amazing!

  • Connections: You have the choice when you order to either get the USB/HDMI plugs OR you can chose the new USB-C plug for connecting to your laptop/device. The “Host” that is used for connecting to your TV/monitor, is as simple as plugging in an HDMI cable and using either a USB port or connecting it to a wall plug for power.

  • Syncing: Is easy as pushing a button and nothing more! This model allows you to have up to 16 InstaShow “buttons” connected and it’s as easy as just tapping the button to display your screen.

  • Security: Once you push the “button” and your connected to the “host” device (connected to the screen), you are instantly on a secure network that uses AES 128-bit security encryption and WPA2 authentication protocol that ensure that corporate intellectual property remains private and safe from tampering or unintended disclosure.

  • Modes: There is presentation mode for when displaying documents and if you want to stream videos, there is a video mode that optimizes the picture by eliminating any choppiness for smooth HD viewing.

As mentioned above, there are a couple reasons that make the InstaShow so easy to use and enjoy for both your personal and professional life. The size of both the InstaShow “host” and “button” are small enough you can easily pack them in your bag if you’re going to visit a client and have to give a presentation (as you know using the InstaShow, there will be no connectivity issues). I also personally use it with my BenQ projector to easily watch movies without having to run any wires to my projector and with the HDMI connection, the sound transfers over just as clean and clear as the video picture!

The price for this kit is around $1,000 which if you are using this for business purposes, is not a bad deal, considering it comes with two laptop “buttons,” and the option to add additional ones at an extra $400 allowing more devices to be connected. Keep in mind, it would be much more costly having an IT company wire a conference room to do what InstaShow can do wirelessly.

So I will say that I am a HUGE fan of the InstaShow as it very quickly proved it’s more than capable of doing what it’s supposed to do and so easily but, at this price point, I don’t think the InstaShow would be the best purchase for personal use, such as an easy way to connect to your projector at home as there are other solutions in the market that cost less and don’t have as much advanced safety and security features, that you don’t need at home for movie viewing.

Here is a video to recap everything and truly show you how easy it is to use BenQ’s InstaShow.
