Nest Labs has done a great job in building products for your home to make it smart from their smart thermostat and their Protect smoke + CO detector to even their Nest Cam. All of their products work seamlessly with each other.
LIFX was one of the original 3rd party brands to be able to incorporate their smart technology to work with Nest.

Whether you have one or a dozen LIFX bulbs connected in your house, once the Nest Protect Alarm is connected- all your lights are in sync. If Nest Protect senses a real smoke or CO threat, the alarm starts to speak and make noise as expected but all of your LIFX bulbs begins flashing red and orange to alert you to danger.
This is a real simulation, you might want to keep your volume low – you’ll thank me afterwards.
A major PLUS is whether the LIFX bulb(s) are physically powered on or not, if the alarm is triggered, the light will turn on and begin to flash/strobe.
Overall, the integration of these brands proves yet again that smart technology for the connected home provides additional security and safety measures that can’t be beat.
