REVIEW: Wocket Wallet

How many of you have had identity theft? Whether your wallet was stolen or your credit card information was copied/swiped at a register or maybe you just have a handful of credit cards and loyalty cards that take up too much space in your wallet.

Let me introduce you to the Wocket Wallet.

The Wocket Wallet is a stand alone smart wallet that replaces your entire wallet with a single card and interchangeable accessories to carry cash and other essentials.

Some of the great features of the Wocket are:

  • Categorize all your cards (credit, debit, loyalty, misc.)
  • E-paper LCD for scanning barcodes
  • Securely store all your passwords
  • Unlock with your PIN code or Voicematch (coming soon)
  • Your cards & data are encrypted and secure
  • Eliminates worrying about your credit card numbers being stolen/copied

What comes in the box:

  • Wallet (leather bound and stitched on one side / LCD screen on the other)
  • USB charging cable
  • Card swiper
  • Wocket credit card (with your name laser etched on it and a physical signature strip and smart swipe technology)

Setting up the Wocket is really easy:

  • You have to charge up the Wocket before using it (this took maybe 30 minutes and should last for months)
  • Create a PIN code
  • Next you plug in the card swipe attachment and chose what category the card you are swiping falls under (credit, debit, loyalty, gym, etc..) and follow the on screen instructions to swipe the card one or two times to be captured securely

Now it’s all set to use!

To use the Wocket:

Chose what category you want and just touch the screen to select the card you want to use. Seconds later your Wocket card has been programmed. The screen will show your information that is programmed for that use on the card and you just slide the Wocket card out of the wallet and use it. It’s that simple!

Hands on review:

Like many people, I have fallen victim to having my credit card information stolen, only to find out when my monthly statement arrived or my credit card company called to confirm a specific charge. It’s aggravating and a major annoyance as you then need to have a new card issued and change anything that is linked to it for payment.

This is why I thought that the Wocket Wallet was perfect for me.

To start, I liked that the Wocket Wallet actually was a smaller fit in my pocket then what I was using prior. Knowing I had all my credit cards securely stored including my loyalty and membership cards as well. No matter what store I went to, my Wocket credit card worked perfectly fine whether at a register or the ATM and even for my gym.

The LCD screen on the wallet (which can be back lit) is easy to read and use and there is a battery indicator on it as well so you don’t have to worry how much more battery life is left (keeping in mind a full charge lasts several months).

You can also download a companion app for iOS or Android that allows you to do any software updates and other features such as the Voicematch feature coming soon that allows you to record your voice to the Wocket so you can unlock it with a code word.

It’s just nice to know these days that it is much harder to at least have my information stolen during any purchase and if my actual Wocket Wallet is stolen, being that it’s password protected, it’s useless to the thief!

My only complaint would be that the leather stitching was coming undone as soon as I took it out of the box and didn’t expect to see that happen so soon for a device that cost $180 and hadn’t been used yet.

Overall, I thought that the Wocket Wallet was made very well and the people at NXT-ID have done a great job and made something that is truly secure and safe with your personal information.
